PLAINFIELD, IN – Town of Plainfield residents who are interested in learning more about how their local government works can now apply to participate in the Town’s third installment of their Citizens Academy. The nine-session program will lead residents from department to department with the hopes of building future leaders and brand ambassadors for the Town of Plainfield while getting an in-depth understanding of how municipal operations occur.
The Citizens Academy is scheduled to meet every third Tuesday of the month, over a ten-month span. These sessions will be held in various Town facilities, allowing for tours and up-close views of day-to-day responsibilities and operations. This is residents’ opportunity to understand where their tax dollars are going and how the Town makes responsible decisions to keep those rates low.
“Many residents do not necessarily understand what goes into local government, especially on a Town level,” said Town Manager, Andrew Klinger. “The goal is to be transparent and teach citizens our day-to-day tasks. At the end of this program, we hope to have inspired attendees to lead their communities and to get involved.”
