Heavy Trash Day

The final Heavy Trash Day for 2022 is scheduled for Saturday, October 15th.

The Fall 2022 Heavy Trash Day will be held on Saturday, October 15th from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Plainfield residents may bring acceptable heavy trash items to the designated dumpsters at the Town Garage located at 986 S. Center Street.

Items accepted include just about everything except:

  • Hazardous waste
  • Tires
  • Building materials
  • Yard waste

Residents may bring furniture to Heavy Trash Day; however, those who bring mattresses will have to dump the mattresses into the dumpster on their own. For sanitary reasons, DPW staff will not handle such items. Residents should remove gas and oil from mowers and leaf blowers.

Items containing Freon like refrigerators and freezers; computers, monitors, and televisions will not be accepted, but may be taken to Hendricks County Tox-Away Days. The last Tox-Away Day will be held at the Plainfield Middle School on October 22nd from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Ray’s Document Destruction will be back as well. The shredder will be set up in the parking lot at the Plainfield Community Middle School, near the football field. Sensitive documents residents would like to have shredded can be dropped off at the Ray’s truck. It will be available during the same hours.

Please note: The Town’s Heavy Trash Days are for the Town of Plainfield residents only. Residents should bring identification with them that has their address on it.

The Town advises the following guidelines:

•              Have leaves at the pickup site by 7 a.m.

•              Know your route day.

•              Have only leaves in the pile for pickup, or they will not be picked up. (Trash,       debris, sticks, or limbs will NOT be picked up as they damage the vacuums.)

•              Rake to the area between the sidewalk and curb.

•              Leaf pile should be no more than 6 feet in width.

•              Do NOT park vehicles near the pickup site.

•              Do NOT rake leaves around obstacles (including mailboxes or basketball goals), or into street gutters. They will not be picked up.

These guidelines are to protect DPW employees, the Town of Plainfield equipment, and personal property. Many areas are difficult to maneuver the vehicles and vacuum hoses, especially cul-de-sacs.

Yard waste may be dropped off at the Plainfield Yard Waste Recycling Center at 700 S. CR 875 East, in Plainfield on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Monday, November 28th. Please call 317-838-9332 if you have questions regarding the site.
