Replacement In-Car Video Camera System Project

The Plainfield Police Department is applying for federal funding under the Recovery Act: The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG). Our agency is applying for the allotted funds of $23,936. With this funding our main focus is to purchase and install four in-car video systems for our police vehicles. This will allow us to switch over from the antiquated VHS recording system in the vehicles to a digital video/audio system that will be easier to download and provide proper evidence needed for the court system. With the remaining funding, the Department will be purchasing three digital cameras and discs to be used by individual officers and 6 packages of blank DVDs to be used to record segments from the in-car video system. If there are any questions or concerns about the application of the JAG funding, please contact the Plainfield Police Department via 838-3565 or headquarters@plainfieldpd.org.
