Q: What does the zoning mean?

A: Click on Zoning Ordinance under Available Ordinances to view Plainfield's Zoning Ordinance. Articles 2 and 3 of the Zoning Ordinance, provide all of the Zoning Districts in Plainfield. The Zoning Districts provide the permitted uses, or what can be done on the property and the Development Standards. The Development Standards provide things like setbacks, lot sizes, lot coverage and how high a structure can be. For a further explanation of these Development Standards, please contact the Department of Planning and Zoning.
