Over the past several years, the Town of Plainfield and Guilford Township have constructed approximately four miles of greenway trails. The linear park trails currently link Hummel, Anderson and Swinford Parks with Friendship Gardens Park.
The development of the linear park system represents a sustained effort by the Plainfield Town Council and Guild Township Board to promote and enrich the quality of life for Plainfield-Guilford Township residents. Linear parks play a critical role in developing a sense of community. In the age of a hectic, auto-oriented lifestyle, public spaces such as traditional parks and greenway trails afford residents a chance to interact with others outside of work and family. Linear parks provide a unique opportunity for residents to interact, socialize and develop a feeling of place or community belonging.
