AN ORDINANCE FOR THE REGULATION OF PARALLEL PARKING AND MOTORCYCLE PARKING IN THE TOWN OF PLAINFIELD
WHEREAS, it has been determined to be in the best interest of the Town of Plainfield to regulate parallel parking and motorcycle parking on public streets within the Town of Plainfield,
BE IT ORDAINED by the Town Council of the Town of Plainfield of Hendricks County, Indiana, that:
SECTION 1. PURPOSE
The purpose of this ordinance is to regulate parallel parking and motorcycle parking on public streets within the Town of Plainfield for the protection of public health, safety and welfare.
SECTION 2. ENFORCEMENT
(1)
The right-side wheels of the vehicle (located on the passenger side of the vehicle) shall be no more than twelve (12) inches from the adjacent right-hand curb;
(2)
Motorcycles shall be stopped or parked with the rear wheel to the curb and the front tire facing the flow of traffic.
An Officer of Plainfield Metropolitan Police Department may issue a citation for a failure to comply with parallel parking regulations within the corporate boundaries of the Town of Plainfield.
SECTION 3. VIOLATION
Any person who violates this ordinance shall be fined not less than Forty Dollars ($40.00) for each offense or more than One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) for a single offense.
SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication according to law.
SAID ORDINANCE is hereby passed and adopted this 11th day of April, 2005.
