AN ORDINANCE FOR THE ENFORCEMENT OF
EMERGENCY VEHICLE PARKING REGULATIONS
IN THE TOWN OF PLAINFIELD
WHEREAS, it has been determined to be in the best interest of the Town of Plainfield to regulate compliance with areas designated for use by emergency vehicles on public streets within the Town of Plainfield,
BE IT ORDAINED by the Town Council of the Town of Plainfield of Hendricks County, Indiana, that:
SECTION 1. PURPOSE
The purpose of this ordinance is to regulate compliance with areas designated for use by emergency vehicles on public streets within the Town of Plainfield for the protection of public health, safety and welfare.
SECTION 2. ENFORCEMENT
Every driver of a vehicle shall abide by:
(1) posted signs, and
(2) painted areas
to designate that a space or curb is restricted for exclusive use by emergency vehicles within the Town of Plainfield.
Emergency vehicles shall include all vehicles of the fire and police forces, ambulances, municipal departments and governmental units.
An Officer of Plainfield Metropolitan Police Department may issue a citation for a failure to comply with a posted sign designating an area reserved for exclusive use by an emergency vehicle within the corporate boundaries of the Town of Plainfield.
An Officer of Plainfield Metropolitan Police Department may issue a citation for a failure to comply with a painted space or curb designating an area reserved for exclusive use by emergency vehicles within the corporate boundaries of the Town of Plainfield.
SECTION 3. VIOLATION
Any person who violates this ordinance shall be fined not less than Forty Dollars ($40.00) for each offense or more than One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) for a single offense.
SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication according to law.
SAID ORDINANCE is hereby passed and adopted this 11th day of April, 2005.
