This is the first of two Heavy Trash Days in the spring. (The second is April 23.) The event is free and open to Town of Plainfield residents only. Residents may deposit acceptable items in designated dumpsters at the Town garage located at 986 S. Center Street. No hazardous waste, tires, building materials, or yard waste will be accepted. The Department of Public Works now advises that they have engaged Technology Recyclers for the Heavy Trash Days in April. Plus, the Stormwater program will be paying the $10 fee for all television and monitor recycling, so it will be free to residents! Ray’s Document Destruction will be nearby in the middle school parking lot (enter from Longfellow Lane) to shred documents residents would like to dispose of. All disposal operations, including the document shredding, will be available from 8 am until 3 pm.
In addition, Plainfield will be participating in the annual county-wide Spring Clean Up. If you wish to volunteer, please contact Shelly Busby of DPW at 839-3490. She can get you t-shirts, safety vests and trash bags. This is a great community service project for Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, church groups or anyone else willing to help clean up the Town. Last year there was a very small turn-out. We are hoping for a better one this year! Please call Shelly at 839-3490 soon to schedule so we know we will have a great crew!
