For the sixth year in a row the Department of Public Works will be hosting plant tours at the North Wastewater Treatment Plant, 990 South Center Street during the summer months. Previous years’ programs have proven to be very popular, not only with residents of Plainfield, but also with citizens from other parts of the county who are interested in seeing how wastewater gets treated so that it can be returned to the ecosystem.
This informational program is open to the public. DPW encourages you to come in and meet the staff, walk with them through the steps of the wastewater treatment process, and discuss environmental issues like water usage, water conservation, and storm water quality.
The plant tours are scheduled for three Wednesdays, June 15th, July 20th, and August 17th, starting at 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. No reservations are necessary. In the event of stormy weather, the scheduled tour will be cancelled.
