The Department of Public Works hosts the last of its summer tours of the North Wastewater Treatment Plant, 990 South Center Street, on Wednesday, August 19.
This popular event, held once a month in June, July, and August, attracts not only residents of Plainfield, but also citizens from other parts of the county who are interested in seeing how wastewater gets treated so that it can be returned to the ecosystem.
The informational program is open to the public. DPW encourages you to come in and meet the staff, walk with them through the steps of the wastewater treatment process, and discuss environmental issues like water usage, water conservation, and storm water quality.
The tour runs 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. No reservations are necessary. In the event of stormy weather, the scheduled tour will be cancelled.
