Police Department of Plainfield DARE/Juvenile Programs

The Plainfield Police Department is proud to have been teaching the DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Program since 1991 in the Plainfield Community School Corporation.  The Department also teaches DARE at St. Susanna School in Plainfield. The DARE Program teaches kids the skills they need to avoid involvement in drugs, gangs, and violence.  DARE is currently taught at the 6th grade level by Captain Jill Lees and Officer Todd Knowles.

Another program taught in the Plainfield School Corporation is Choices. Officer Todd Knowles teaches 8th grade students about issues facing teens today and how to make sound choices when confronted with different situations. Officer Knowles arranges guest speakers that also come to speak with students regarding issues such as drugs, gangs, the juvenile justice system, teen dating violence, etc.

Captain Lees and Officer Knowles also focuses on the elementary students in the Plainfield Community School Corporation and St. Susanna School by conducting classes on Good Touch/Bad Touch, Halloween Safety, Red Ribbon Week celebrations, Van Buren Club Cats, and other pre-school programs relating to safety issues.
